The BCTA
The British Columbia Trapshooting Association (BCTA) is a non-profit society incorporated in 1992 to host and organize the Annual British Columbia Provincial Trapshooting Championships. The BCTA is also the Provincial body that manages the Pacific International Trapshooting Association (PITA) shoots and promotes the sport of trapshooting throughout BC.
The BCTA's membership is comprised of BC clubs that hosts PITA shoots. Individuals cannot become a member of the BCTA. However, there are approximately 1,500 active PITA shooters in BC.
The BCTA holds two meetings during the year: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) that is held during the Provincial Championships, and the Bi-Annual Meeting. These BCTA meetings are open to all shooters, however, only the delegate of the member clubs and the BCTA Board Members have the ability to vote during the meeting.
The majority of BCTA's funding is from the target fee (30 cents per target) that shooters pay during a registered PITA event. The member clubs also pay a $25 annual membership dues. The funds generated by the BCTA are used to subsidize the Annual BCTA Provincial Championships.
